I bought this coffeemaker for my wife for Christmas. We got it up and working and, exactly 6 weeks later, it quit working. We can now program it and even turn it on and though the lights work and it switches from auto to on at the correct time, no coffee gets made. The burner doesn't get hot...nothing. A $70 coffee maker should last more than 6 weeks. I tried to get some info from the company about getting it fixed or replaced, but the nearest authorized Braun service shop is 2 1/2 hours away...and I live in Houston! It would cost me more in gas than it would to buy a new coffeemaker and, rest assured, it won't be a Braun! | 1 | 752 days ago | Excellent Coffee Maker
This is an excellent coffee maker. I've used it three times already and every cup was consistently good and strong. I like my coffee very strong, so I grind it fine and use a #4 paper filter instead of using the gold filter. Also, water will pass through a metal filter much faster than a paper one, so I don't recommend the Gold filter if you want to save on coffee.

<br />Secondly, be sure to use a good surge protector with this unit, especially if you're in an area that's subject to power surges and black outs; otherwise if you want a coffee maker that won't ever break, buy one without a digital timer.
