Fun at first, but the novelty rapidly fades
Road Kill is a game with self explanatory title and general plot line. You are Mason Strong, a complete nobody that has a talent for operating any and all manner of car, truck, and van etc. Also, each vehicle has its various strenghs and weaknesses (as is the case with any sort of video game). For extreme destruction impluses that a gamer may have, this title can address those very handily. Any vehicle you have in your possession is capable of causing intense mayhem and general grief on anyone unlucky enough to get in the way.

Excellent waste of time!
For 19.99, you CANNOT go wrong with this game. Heed the 'M' rating, because it is rude, crude and lewd, lots of gore (pedestrians often get stuck in/under your vehicle and get dragged, while their blood actually spatters the screen for a few seconds), so say "No" to the kiddies. This game is basically what it claims to be on the box, "Twisted Metal: Black meets GTA...". Gameplay is 80% TM:B , 10% Mercenaries, and 10% GTA - Almost all the missions are driving missions with no car-jacking, but with PLENTY of mayhem and crazy car physics ala the TM series, plus faction specific vehicles and a turret gunner ala 'Mercenaries'. The "cities" you drive around in (there are only 3) are small compared to GTA, but if you consider them "Arenas" for TM, they are huge. The radio is mediocre unless you are listening to the scripted/original talent. The Fuzz Bros. songs are mullet-topped head and shoulders above Love Fist's from GTA. I can't get 'Deathmatch' out of my head. Any detractor can say it lacks originality because it mimics those other game's features, but it preceeded GTA: San Andreas and Mercenaries by almost 2 years. Driving + Shooting = FUN!!!!!

Nicely open-ended
What's great about this game is that you can pretty much ignore the missions for as long as you need to and just perform randoms acts of violence. It would have been great if there was a way for you to switch weapons, as opposed to using the last item you picked up.

17 hours of addictive mahem.
Are you a GTA fan??? Need something to tide you over until the next installment of GTA??? Then buy Roadkill to tide you over. At the 19.99 price point you cannot go wrong! I purchased the game for 39.99 and have no regrets. This is a combination of Mad Max + GTA + Twisted Metal. Although it lacks alot of originality (reason for the 4 star rating) it throws a few surprises in. The game is influenced most by GTA. GTA INFLUENCES: Radio options are identical to GTA (talk radio is hilarious), Driving physics are identical, Many cars to choose from, SIDE MISSIONS GALORE include Racing, sniping, Rooftop jumping ect. MAD MAX INFLUENCES: For the most part... its the story... however, instead of a nuclear war... it is a virus that wipes out the government system. Most of the characters and ideas could be taken directly from a Mad Max movie. TWISTED METAL INFLUENCES: Your vehicle can carry an arsenal of weapons to dispatch of other vehicles. Weapons include a minigun, sniper rifle dumbfire rockets, multiple rockets, guided rocket (very fun), spread gun (think of a shot gun), bolt gun, mines, laser mines, timed mines, emp and more. You get weapons by finding certain crates and blueprints within the map. You get upgrades by destroying vehicles and cashing in their salvage. Its a run and gun game with more of a purpose than Twisted Metal could offer. SURPRISES: Tornados appear every once in a while and wreak havoc in the city you are in creating an interesting concept in gameplay. The guided missle was huge fun... sit in your car atop a building and fire away. Radio Humor... although this was a big part of the newer GTA games.... the talk radio stations in this game are funnier and more original than the GTA radio. Be warned though... when I say funnier.... I mean really crude humor. If you get offended easily... mute the radio... but if you got offended easily... this game isnt for you anyway. Dragging peds is a great addition. Sometimes I would hit people to see how

Just what I wanted
I'm a big fan of car combat style games, and this game really hit the spot for me. You won't be able to play Twisted Metal after you try this. The missions are varied, controls are great and talk radio is hysterical. Most missions put you behind the wheel, while others have you manning the machine gun turret. The AI is very good, for example if you hang around too much in one spot, your rival gangs will find you and strat coming down on you pretty hard, so the game forces you to keep moving. The story is your average post-apocalypse B-movie, but that's what these games are all about, right? :) Just be aware that this game fully takes advantage of its "M" rating: it's extremely violent and language is not for the faint of heart or the young'uns.
