Good Agenda but why so many items of inferior quality? Peter Drucker said 'Marketing and Technology is all that matters for a company. The rest is cost ..." <br /> <br />Unfortunately, the modern companies run their business planning technology obsolescence and marketing for idiot consumers. <br /> <br />Let's see if this is applicable to Zire 72! First of all PalmOne assumes customers will be forever happy about a gadget that will serve as everything at the same time even with inferior quality. <br /> <br />You may say OK to the photo machine into it! But I ask what's the use of having a 1 megapixel photo machine? <br /> <br />You may say OK to the USB switch to exchange data with your PC! But I ask why use a proprietary soft (Real One) to transfer music and not use a direct communication via Windows Explorer as pen drivers commonly do? <br /> <br />Why additional gadgets of questionable quality are so expensive? <br /> <br />Why mark PalmOne and Zire stamped in the face of it fade? <br /> <br />Ok, I say - that's a great agenda with good quality sound though limited to expensive 1-2 GB memory cards. <br /> <br />Seems like PalmOne knows how to play the game of planning obsolescence counting on your next purchase or on customers with permanently growing budgets. <br /> <br />Some ideas for the PalmOne brilliant marketing department: <br />- an agenda which prepares tomato sauce for pasta while surfing on the Net; <br />- a telephone which completes calls from the tip of your mind while you listen to Beethoven's 9th Symphony; <br /> <br />Ok. Not worth the money I have a lot of experience with Palm handhelds, and will never buy another one(See below) <br /> <br />First, I'll list the good things about this PDA. <br /> <br />The good things(Pros): <br />1.)Decent camera <br />2.)Nice Screen(NOT the best) <br />3.)Fast processor <br />4.)Lightweight <br />5.)Good software on disk <br />6.)Recessed SD card slot (This IS good. Slots that aren't recessed result in popping out cards.) <br />7.)Good button placement <br />8.)High quality voice recording <br />9.)Bluetooth <br /> <br />The bad things(Cons): <br />1.)Horrible screen hissing/buzzing <br />2.)Exposed screen(As with all PDA's that are not clamshell) <br />3.)Requires resets OFTEN for intense users <br />4.)Green line across the top of pictures and movies <br />5.)No MPEG-4 video support <br />6.)Low mp3 volume <br />7.)Nonreliable battery gauge <br />8.)"Palmone" and "Zire 72s" writing on top rubs off easily <br />9.)No cradle <br />10.)Charger comes out <br />11.)Under-used LED indicator light <br />12.)Rip off <br />13.)Constant resets <br />14.)32mb RAM...PATHETIC! Especially for a palm that boasts mp3 playback and video recording. <br />15.)No wifi <br /> <br />Now, for my story. <br /> <br />I bought the Zire 72 after my bad experience with the Zire 31. It thought it would be better. It was...slightly. Everything was great, for the first few months. The first thing that happened was the screen hissing. I know this is not only a problem with this PDA...it is something to do with the screen cable. So, what happenned was, I bumped it, or dropped it lightly. Nothing serious. Then, I turned it on. And the screen hissed. Annoying. However, if this was the only problem, I would have given it 5 stars. Next, the resets. I installed some apps and games. Nothing extremely complex...Just some games. I started to have to do resets very often. At least once a day. A hard reset at least once a month. Unexceptable. Then came my broken screen. What can I say..	2	776 days ago
What CANT this thing do?... ive had the palm zire 72s for almost a year now. there are SO MANY add-ons and programs that you can get for it that i am more and more impressed with it every day. seriously. the more i use it the better it gets. <br /> <br />heres some cool stuff i got my palm to do that nobody else probably told you about: <br /> <br /> -ive got a really nice "windows-'98-looking" operating system (not just a skin) that totally made my palm way better looking. very versatile. very nice on the eyes. <br /> -i use adobe reader and documents-to-go for palm to read e-books EVERY DAY. im hooked... <br /> -bluetooth enabled me to send photos, ringtones, and games from my computer to my palm to my phone to everybodys bluetooth phone without paying any stupid charges that my phone company tries to charge me... probably saved like hundreds of dollars already. (no kidding) <br /> -dont forget the zire has infa-red built in to it. are you like me and ever go to the electronics store and in the home theatre section look at all of those nice expensive fancy remotes for like hundreds of dollars? whell, the zire 72 is WAY better than any of those (i own one)- you can buy a program and teach it commands from old remotes, or get them off the internet or database. i always have my remote on me at all times for the entire house. very cool. <br /> -there are also many map and gps programs available in which you can load maps of your city on your palm. i calculate shortest routes and never get lost anymore. it works without gps, but you can get a wireless bluetooth gps receiver for it which makes it even better. must have for the zire 72. <br /> -also, if you have a big enough memory card and enough patience, you can fit full-length, high definition movies on your zire that play smooth, fast, and clear. movies in your car, what more can i say?.... <br /> -if youre a student, you can buy a program that turns the zire 72 into a scientific graphing calculator (in HD!!) differ	5	776 days ago
