I'm in love with my vacuum I have two cats - one of them long-haired and between their regular shedding and playing - loose hair management is ridiculous. I bought this on a recommendation from a friend and did the test. First I vacummed with my old one, then tried the Dyson. I honestly didn't realize that my carpet was actually that covered with hair. Easy to clean out and plenty of fun attachments to try. Definately worth the price.	5	820 days ago
Short and to the point We researched virtually every vacuum cleaner that is currently in production. We printed off "specs" and "descriptions" plus pictures. We did not consider the price but the "value" for our dollar. We read review after review and even went out to various stores to look at vacuum's. So, as anyone can tell, we did not buy this vacuum just because it is a Dyson but because it appeared to be the superior one for our needs. To our delight, we were right with our choice. <br /> <br />We are totally satisfied with our purchase of the DC14 Cyclone Animal Upright Vacuum. The first time we used it all we could say was "wow." We live on sandy soil and have both cats and dogs. This vacuum picked up pet hair and sand from what we thought was an adequetely vacuumed carpet. <br /> <br />Initially we had a little bit of trouble using the attachments but with patience, and actually reading the directions, we now can use the attachments with ease. <br /> <br />Granted, this vacuum is not inexpensive but for the way this vacuum performs it is worth the price. If you have pets this vacuum should be your immediate choice. We are totally and unequivicably satisfied and delighted with this vacuum.	5	820 days ago
Why didn't I buy A Dyson Animal before? I have just vacuumed by entire house and am amazed. I had a cleaning lady come once and she used her animal on my rugs and carpet. They had looked brand new. Well, finally talked my husband into buying one today. First I vacummed with my top of the line Kenmore. Then took the animal out of the box. Simple assembly, easy to figure out. Started vacuuming and guess what. Kenmore missed a ton of hair. Now I do have to say, I have four kids under nine and three large dogs that are in and out all day. We have dog hair and junk on the floors. We also have alot of hardwoods and tile and I loved it on there too. I just am amazed how much was still in my carpet that I thought was clean. This is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned. It is also the most expensive. I take that back. We have central vac in the house which was here when we purchased the home. That I hate. The hose is so long and bulky. Used it twice and no thanks. So my advice. Buy the Dyson and never look back!	5	820 days ago
Dyson is the BEST for what's out there........ I have tried many vacuum's over the years - thanks to Sears and their warranties - and was very excited finally to try the Dyson!! It recently came to Canada, and my 9th vacuum (mostly Kenmore - last one Bosch) broke down again over the period of 7yrs thanks to my wonderful long haired dogs - Samoyed, Great Pyr, and a very hairy cat - Now that's a lot of hair wouldn't you agree?! <br /> <br />Some one told me that these write-ups here were too good to be true, but now have had the chance to test the vacuum for my self, and YES it's true! The Dyson is everything you expect a vacuum to be, but not everything is perfect....so I'll get to the point. <br /> <br />PRO'S: <br />* Suction is AMAZING! <br /> <br />* Getting hair out from the brush bar - EASY! <br /> <br />* No BAGS to deal with - every sales person I spoke to said if I had a lot of hair, that I couldn't go bagless. (NOT) <br /> <br />* LIGHTER than some of the fancy vacuums out there. <br /> <br /> <br />CON'S: <br />* Like everyone, the SWITCH for the floor/carpet could be higher for more convience. <br /> <br />* The CORD is nice and long BUT it would be so much better if it would automatically rewind and be put it out of the way of the wand. When I only want to unwind the cord a little - there is no way I can use the wand because the cord is wrapped around the notch that is attached to the handle of the wand - Argh! <br /> <br />* There is no LIGHT on the vacuum and it would be a nice asset -I really miss that feature. <br /> <br />* Very annoying that the HEAD of the vacuum is so thick that you cannot reach under furniture. They have tried to solve this by giving you the low reach tool, but who carries that with you to each room, and then having to change that every time you need to get under a piece of furniture - Not practical!! <br /> <br /> <br />Don't get me wrong - the Dyson is worth every cent for what's out there, but if they were able to improve the machine with these imperfections - we would	5	820 days ago
Definitely has it's UPS & DOWNS. The ups are obvious. Suction is good and all. BUT... there are several qualities in this vaccumm cleaner that I can't stand. It is very heavy and and hard to manuver. Also, I am very particular that everything get clean when I vaccumm (which is why I was willing to pay so much for a vaccumm cleaner in the first place.) In order to really get everything clean, The attachment needs to be used to clean hard to reach places. Usually a hard to reach place means you need a bendable wand to really get to it. The problem with Dysons is that there is about 3 feet of the wand that DOESN'T bend! It's very frustrating to use. Vaccumming stairs is very tiring and difficult, behind the furniture is impossible to do without pulling it away from the wall, below all low to the ground furniture is out of the question, etc. <br />If I had it to do over, I would not buy this vaccumm.	3	820 days ago
Great suction. Refurbished is the way to go! We bought our Dyson refurbished DC14 right here on Amazon. The unit arrived in a very timely manner, but unfortunately, it was unuseable because the handle would not stay in the vacuum. Apparrently the device that you are supposed to hear "click" into place was missing a spring. After a call to Dyson, they immediately sent us out a replacement handle with no hassles what so ever. Once installed, the Dyson perform really well. It does indeed have great suction. I think that one improvement that would be nice is to have a powered beater brush instead of one that is activated by the suction power. It is very light, which makes me skeptical of the long term durabitly of the vacuum. There is lots of placstic parts used. This vacuum replaced my well built, 12 year old Kirby, which uses mostly metal. I believe this is a Excellent vacuum (...)Only time will tell.	4	820 days ago
Excellent for those who have arthritis! I have arthritis and back problems, therefore had great difficulty sweeping until I bought my refurbished Dyson. The unit itself is not light to pick up, but it requires only four pounds of pressure to push...very easy sweeping. That makes all the difference for me! Works extremely well! The DC14 works extremely well. I am much happier with it than my top of the line Kenmore cannister vacuum. It seems to pick up items extremely well, is light and easy to get rid of the waste. <br /> <br />The only issue we had was a clicking sound at times. After talking with Dyson (great by the way), they solved the issue. They indicated that a rubber seal could be taken out to distribute the airflow in a slightly different way. Upon taking this out, the sound went away. According to Dyson, this sound is the 'clutch' not engaging due to an exceeding of exceptable torque to rotate the brushes. In other words, this was a 'feature' to keep the DC14 from breaking.	5	820 days ago
love my dyson We ordered the reconditioned dyson dc14 full-kit. It arrived quickly and is in like new condition. We have tested it out and are very satisfied with it. The Dyson picks up twice as much as my old vacuum. I wasn't sure about buying reconditioned, but took a chance and I am very glad I did. Love to clean I own two big dogs that constantly shed hair and about 2 years ago I bought a brand new Kirby vac hoping that it would help with the problem. It didn't do as well as I would of liked, so I borrowed my Mom's Dyson DC07 Vac and I was amazed at how well it did. Since then I have bought the DC14 and I can't stop vacuuming because I love it so much. All the attachments are so easy to use and now I really do love to clean everything.	5	817 days ago
OMG, this vacuum rules Sucks like no other & feels extremely light. I vacuumed with our old vacuum, then with the Dyson and the Dyson picked up quite a bit of dirt still. The wand is great and has extremely high suction power. The only downside now is that I can't stop vacuuming.... Hope that helped, now I'm off to vacuum :)	5	817 days ago

The best Vacuum that SUCKS everything! ! Pros. :: <br />1. Sucks Everything. <br />2. Ease of use. <br />3. The handle attachments (streches 7 feet) <br /> <br />cons: (not really too bad) <br />1. Price (i got it for 345 from Amazon, not bad for me!) <br />2. Little heavy to carry over the stairs (from my Wife's input!) <br />3. Sometimes if you run it over a Rug, the rug gets sucked by the vacuum and makes it hard to push the vacuum. Great Bargain - Great Purchase!! Debated over spending for a reconditioned one or simply going for the new - took review recommendations and got reconditioned one - I do question the reconditioned name - it's picture perfect! Works like nothing I have ever used before - can't believe what I thought were clean rugs were absolutely filthy when using the Dyson, and like others, I did the use old one first test and then Dyson - it was a real eye opener! What can I say? Simply put, it's the best vacuum ever! Everything about it is perfect, super strong suction, awesome attachments and the way it extends is "near" perfect. <br /> <br />About the only thing I can think of that I'd like to see different is adding a height adjustment for carpets. In my bedroom I have very thick carpet and in my other bedrooms it's thin. On my master bedroom carpet it tends to leave lines. I usually like lines as it shows you just vacuumed, but this leaves about 4 lines instead of the usual two corner lines. <br /> <br />I was completely amazed when I saw how much dirt, dust and dog hair I got out of my carpet, even AFTER going over it with my old vacuum. Dyson DC14 animal upright It looks brand new. One attachment was a little scratched but didn't look used. I have all hard wood floors and it worked great. What I really like about it is that when the vacuum butts up against the baseboard or wall it sucks the dirt right up. Most vacuums don't pick up what is against the wall, you usually need to use the attachment. Also great on stairs. It stays at the bottom and the hose is very long and reaches up to the top of the stairs no problem. It easier to use on the stairs than my canester which I had to lug up the stairs with me. BE CAREFUL !!! i have this vacuum...it is very very powerful and does not have a height setting....your delicate oriental or older carpets will be damaged if you use this vacuum with the beater bar engaged. If the beater bar is not engaged, all you are getting is suction and it simply does not clean well because it is a hard wood floor setting. This vacuum badly damaged my gorgeous oriental rugs !!	1	786 days ago

Incredible Vacumm This vacumm is like buying a macintosh vs. a Windows computer. It is so well designed and thought out. I was very impressed. They thought of everything. Very clean and simple system for emptying. I vacummed my 1 bedrooom apartment with my old vacumm a few days before getting this. It still loked clean, but I wanted to try the vacumm. thank goodness I was prepared okay got the Dyson DC14 Animal upright, put it together in the hallway on a tile floor...turned it on...vacuumed a path for about 8 feet long..looked clean before I started... I have 2 cats but picked up enough fur to make another two. I'ver read reviews and have researched Dyson so I was prepared for quality but I am still pleasantly surprised. Don't waste your hard earned money on any other brand. been there done that. not any more. Dyson is now my only option.	5	786 days ago
Great vacuum. Cleans like crazy. Pros: <br />Easy to use. Very adaptable system. Tools and manual cleaning system are at your fingertips. Very long power cord and attachment hose. Incredible suction. Emptying the bin is trivial, and essentially a clean process. Contrary to competitor claims, Dyson vacs do not spew dust into the house. In fact, the lifetime filter is user cleanable making the whole unit basically cost free--again, a trivially simple process. <br /> <br />Cons: <br /> <br />This thing sucks so hard that it's difficult to push on deep pile carpet. I called Dyson about this and they had me remove two very thin seals from the beater-bar head. The result completely fixed the issue. There was no apparent loss of cleaning capability. The power cord is exceptionally long. Unfortunately, it does not automagically retract. The long cord can get in ones way, however one does not have to move it from plug to plug as much. Yes, it's plastic. But other reviews have indicated reliability and good support from Dyson. <br /> <br />Both my wife and I find the Dyson to be an excellent purchase. We've had lots of problems with vacuums because of three dogs and long haired humans. This machine does a much better job of things and is much easier to use. <br /> <br />Worth the money? Time will tell. The reason why we selected Dyson is because of all the good reviews all over the Net. So far, it has exceeded our expectations.	5	784 days ago
Very Satisfied Dyson owner I have now owned this vacuum for one year. I waited this long to review to test the reliability of this very pricey machine... <br /> <br />It has stood up to the one year test and is still performing wonderfully. First tip would be to wait for a sale (I purchased through Amazon at an amazing low price, with free shipping as an added bonus!) <br /> <br />We have a brand new house, a small child and a houseful of cats, long and short haired. I knew I needed a good vacuum. This Dyson does everything it says it does. The house smells fresher and cleaner once I'm done. Of course it does, look what came out of the carpet! <br /> <br />I wanted to address the hardwood floor comment...half of my downstairs flooring is hardwood, and I have had no problem. I turn off the beater bar most times, but others I don't. Either way it works fine...picks up everything, almost before I get to it, the suction is so good. <br />Another comment - on rugs...again, turn off the beater bar....the suction is so good that it gets all of the cat hair & dirt out of the rug. <br /> <br />The hose is also another reason I purchased this machine, it stays out of the way until you're ready for it, and then it is plenty long, it stretches all the way to the top of the staircase...13 steps. <br /> <br />Another tip, empty the canister when the dirt inside stops spinning...I learned this after waiting too long and then it is a little tougher to empty. <br /> <br />Also clean the beater bar once every so often, mine gets tangled with hair, fur, etc....and decreases performance a bit. (This probably goes for most vacuums!) <br /> <br />I will say that I have not once used the low reach tool, so another model w/out this feature would probably do fine. <br /> <br />No bags and filters to buy! Yet another Dyson review? So many people have reviewed this product that I initially felt it was unnecessary. But now that I've had more time to use mine, I can't keep quiet any longer. This vacuum is fantastic. It cleans far better than my Bissell upright did, it's quieter, and it's easier to empty. I'm a stickler when it comes to how well things work, and the Dyson lives up to the hype. I resisted for 2 years, and I wish I hadn't. <br /> <br />This vacuum is so strong it literally sucks itself to the carpet, which can make it difficult to vacuum small area rugs. As long as you move at a moderate pace (as with any vacuum, you'll get better results if you're not doing the Indy 500 with it) this thing eats dust and animal hair. I don't know whether to be excited at how much the Dyson sucks up, or disgusted at what is in my carpet. <br /> <br />Here are good reasons to buy the Dyson: <br />* It works as well as it should for the cost. <br />* It's extremely well-engineered (you can access every area on the thing that could potentially block without using a screwdriver!) <br />* Dyson was ripped off by the other vacuum manufacturers (namely Hoover). He had to take them to court-twice-and won both times. Support the good guys, not the thieves. <br />* It's very easy to clean, and you never have to touch the messy stuff. <br />* You don't need to buy replacement filters, which can be quite a cost savings. <br /> <br />Reasons not to buy a Dyson: <br />* It's expensive. Don't get me wrong, it's worth every penny, but not everyone can spend $400 on a vacuum. If you can, though, you'll never regret it. <br />* If you are a neat-nut and germophobe, seeing what the Dyson sucks out of your "clean" carpet may cause a nervous breakdown. <br />* The mini turbine tool accessory doesn't work and shouldn't even be available. Great Vacuum I purchased a reconditioned DC-14 low reach Dyson about a month ago for my wife. It arrived the same day as our new carpet was being installed, what planning!!. I have never written a review on any other item that I have purchased as I have always believed you do your research and buy accordingly. I can truly say that this vacuum has exceeded my expectations. I know they are not inexpensive but with this machine we got our money's worth. No Problems I have had no problems with this vaccuum. I had a Fantom for 6 years that just burnt out. I also had no problems with that except that emptying the dirt was much messier. This vaccuum has no mess when emptying. Great new system. Chose because it was the only vacuum that has the hose in the handle just like my old Fantom did (the new Fantoms don't). This is such a "great" feature. For convenience and it is out of the way! Love the on board tools and extra long stretch hose which will stretch to the top of my drapes and to the ceiling. Only improvements I would make are: "Low Reach Vacuum" is misleading as it is only an attachment which is available with all the other models?	5	784 days ago
