| Review | Rating | Last Updated | Uneven toasting We've had this toster for about 3 weeks and we're tyring to return it. The toast is uneven both vertically and horizontally, and burns at #4 out of 8. We need a long 4-slice toaster because we buy bread that is wider than regular sandwich bread. This is a real disappointment at $120! | 1 | 772 days ago | Absolutely wonderful toaster Finally, a toaster that does it right!

I was a little hesitant about buying this toaster at first since $120.00 seems like a lot of cash to shell out for a toaster. However, when I thought about the fact that I use a toaster numerous times almost everyday I realized it is one of the most used appliances in our house. With that in mind, and a string of disappointing toasters in my past, I sprung for this little beauty.

As I mentioned, we toast a LOT of stuff in our house. From wimpy little white bread, pop tarts and waffles for the kids to English muffins, hearty wheat bread and bagels for me. Past toasters needed either constant attention or produced very unpredictable results. We burned A LOT of stuff, especially when going from a bagel to a piece of white bread.

I am now pleased to report that we burn nothing. The heat adjustment on this toaster is outstanding. It clicks like a dial on a safe and no matter what you have just toasted and no matter if the toaster is hot or cold, the level of browning is the same every time at every different setting. When you find the perfect setting for an item you can be confident that that setting gives you the exactly the same result every time.

The slots are both long and wide. I have yet to have any problem with any item we have put in the toaster regardless of the size - even for very thin items. The wire holders in the slots adjust very well to all sizes.

The bagel option is my favorite part of this toaster. When toasting bagels, English muffins, buns, etc. you simply set the browning dial, push down the lever and then press the button in the middle of the browning dial. The toasting light starts to flash indicating that only the interior warming coils are engaged. Perfect toasting inside, no toasting on the outside. A wonderfully welcome option!
If your tired of guessing how your toast is going to turn out, tired of throwing away bur | 5 | 772 days ago | toast, for lack of a better word, is good I bought this expecting it to work. It does. Bread goes in and toast comes out. depending on how high you set the dial, what goes in comes out darker or lighter. Basically, it's a very good toaster that I would recommend others buy, if they were to ask me for my opinion. | 5 | 772 days ago | Great toaster: Update after ten months of use We have had this for six months and it has been great. The bagel feature (putting the bagels in with the cut side facing the center of the toaster, pressing a button, and the cut side comes out toasted while the bagel's outside does not get burnt) works really well.

Its counter space footprint is smaller than the four-in-a-row style four-slice toasters. But the unit is substantial and solid.

It is easy to get the toasting setting right and it accepts weird shapes and sizes well - conversely, it's also easy to get stuff un-stuck when necessary. It cleans up easily both inside and out. The styling, well we think it goes well with our contemporary decor, though friends said it would look good in their colonial.

We can't speak to how long it will last, but so far, it's great.

Update: Ten months with the Dualit Toaster have been, well exactly the same as the first few months. It works extremely well and I am glad we picked this one.

Some other benefits that the extended test period have revealed are in the durability and looks areas. We go from having just two of us to having a houseful, so when we need to pop out great toast, one set of four slices after another, the Dualit takes it all in stride; it does not overheat or loose its setting (some toasters will get confused and pop out under-toasted toast under repeated use - but not this one.)

Additionally, we really liked the texture of the plastic surfaces, they are matt finished - almost soft textured - and not just shiney palstic. I had some concerns about how long that finish would last after being exposed to heat and sunlight. I am happy to report that it has not yellowed, singed, or distorted. It still looks, well exactly the same as the first few months. The chrome is flawless.

Daulit - very nice toaster.
