Country Conversations around ‘Family’

by BeckyD on July 19, 2014

God created and designed us to live in a community called family but we live in a world filled with broken hearts and broken homes. Globally we are confronted by the struggles and the results of fragile, hurting families … and we are worried.  We long to see the rebuilding of family communities as a part of helping each child to find the “life to the full” that Jesus talked about. We know that this rebuilding will happen more effectively when people passionate about family, across the diverse spectrum of the Christian church, gather together in similar culture/language/ethnic groups to explore local options for a better future. Through a shared commitment to journey together, listen to each other and to God, and to work together on some resulting initiatives, families will be strengthened.
An initiative of the Global Children’s Forum is to help facilitate ‘Country Conversations’ across the globe that will see new levels of working together and new strategies developed within local contexts. The first of these conversations was held in Australia in May this year (on the UN International Day for Families). The lessons learnt from this experience have been the basis for shaping the“Let’s Talk Family Country Conversation Pack” (http://www.max7.org/resource/letstalkfamily).
With expressions of interest already gathered from some countries, we’d like to invite you to consider if you are able to work with a local team to facilitate your own Country Conversation. Or could you pass this information on to someone that you know in your country who could help to make this happen? Our new website www.letstalkfamily.org is currently being developed which will contain further resources to support these conversations … and more.
Please download and read through the “Let’s Talk Family Pack” and then compete this simple form (only 5 questions) if you would like to register your expression of interest to facilitate a conversation in your country. Financial assistance for transport costs, catering, venue hire, publicity and other facilitation costs has been made available for 10 conversations in this financial year. Enquiries can be directed to: info@letstalkfamily.org
