GCF Leadership Experience – Applications now open for 2018

What is the Leadership Experience?

  • It is a unique one-year course that provides the opportunity for children’s ministry leaders to learn
    together with others from around the globe.
  • It is designed and facilitated by the Global Children’s Forum, a collaboration of Christian child-focused
    organisations who recognise the need to develop the next generation of leaders serving the
    local and global church.
  • Participants are drawn from around the world and are able to join the Leadership Experience while
    continuing to work in their own church or organisation.
  • The Course includes community research, online forums, mentoring, a major Ministry project and a
    5-week residential intensive in South Africa

What is the timeline for the GCF Leadership Experience in 2018?

  • August 15, 2017: Applications close
  • December, 2017: LE begins with research amongst children, parents and leaders in your local area.
  • February 18 to March 24, 2018: the South African residential will run and full-time attendance is essential. Through interactive, experiential learning methods and time and space to reflect, we will explore and share:
    • The task of ‘making disciples’ of children in the diversity of our 21st
      century world
    • Innovative models of holistic children’s ministry
    • What it means to be a Kingdom leader in children’s ministry
    • Skills and strategies in team facilitation, advocacy and collaboration
    • The amazing things that God is accomplishing through and on behalf of children across the globe
  • April to November, 2018: online assignments, work on Ministry Project, mentoring and supervision
  • December, 2018: online graduation and the awarding of GCF Leadership Experience Certificates endorsed by Cory Centre, Bethel Seminary USA.

Successful applicants are those who:

  • Have worked in children’s ministry for some time and are already training others
  • Are recognised by others for their leadership abilities
  • Work well in a team
  • Are likely to be between 20 and 45 years of age
  • Are recommended by the church or Christian organisation that they work with
  • Are committed to fulfil every LE requirement
  • Are competent in written and spoken English
  • Are competent in computer skills and have regular access to internet
  • Are able to raise all or most of the required costs’

TOTAL COST: USD2,000 plus return airfares to Johannesburg
