KidsHubs Media touching parents

by BeckyD on October 17, 2014

During the recent KidsHub training in Liberia, Uganda & Tanzania participants were taken through a KidsHub media session about the parable Jesus told of ‘The Lost Sheep’.  Groups took part in creating their own video of the story as many KidsHub groups around the world have done using the KidsHub Media curriculum.
One Compassion Project Director from Uganda who attended the training in Kampala reflected how she wanted to take the parents of the children they serve through the media training. She said:
“When we were acting on the Lost Sheep and doing the video shooting it reminded me about the parents who have lost hope in their children. They feel that the children have become difficult and many times they come to my office and they say ‘we would rather the Director remove this child and replace with the other’. And now when we acted that (story) it came to me that I think this is a time that we can bring the parents onboard, disciple them through acting on the Lost Sheep and I’m sure spiritually they will be touched and their minds & motives will be changed positively towards these very children that they have given up.” (See the interview excerpt on KidsHubTV’s facebook page.)

Imagine taking a group of children and their parents or carers through the media sessions together. What stories of discovery and learning might occur?
