Ministering to Children at Risk

by BeckyD on March 20, 2014

As a follow-up to the 2010 Lausanne Cape Town Commitment that includes a Call to Action on behalf of Children, the Lausanne Consultation on Children at Risk will take place on November 16-20, 2014 in Quito, Ecuador.

The consultation aims to increase awareness, serious attention, collaboration and partnering within the global Church community on issues related to children at risk. Around 80 participants are expected to attend the event, including leaders from the Lausanne Movement and other global/regional movements, networks and organizations, denominations and church alliances; and seminary leaders/professors, theologians and missiologists.

Activities will include:

  • Discussions on theological and missiological reflections related to children at risk;
  • Presentation of practical ministry models that demonstrate praxis based on sound child development practice and theological reflection;
  • Outlining of broad action plans involving multi-movement collaboration among Lausanne issue groups and global networks; and
  • Gathering the commitments and affirmations of participating leaders to move the global Church forward in seeing God’s purpose for fulfilled and realized for children at risk around the world.

A Lausanne Occasional Paper (LOP) on Children at Risk will be prepared consolidating the outputs of the consultation.  The LOP will serve as a living document to inspire and engage the body of Christ around the world to effectively work on behalf of children at risk.
