Nigerian Equip Conference and West Africa Regional Team meeting

Nigeria EquipThe Equip Conference was organised by the Nigeria Evangelical Missions Agency (NEMA) and Nigeria 4/14 Window Global Initiative with the twin goal of EQUIPPING and REFRESHING missionaries and ministers working with children and teens within Nigeria and some neighbouring countries to enable them reach this strategic group in a holistic way. This was done through distributing culturally relevant and adaptable resources and introducing participants to current, cutting edge strategies in children and teenage evangelism and discipleship. Care for children at risk, such as internally displaced children and orphans, was emphasized.

Nigeria Equip 2Sis Grace Jerry particularly challenged participants to intentionally include children living with disabilities in their programmes.

Working together was also a major theme. Christian partnering recognizes the diversity of the different groups but celebrates, honours and respects these diversities with grace and patience and invites all to participate in collaboration and submission to one another and Jesus, who is the Head. The content is more important than the container. The emphasis should be on the children not the different agencies with which we work with.

GCF was able to serve this gathering through the distribution of the 2fish5bread discs and other printed resources, KidsHubs training and the use of videos from Max7.

Westa Africa teamAt the conclusion of the Equip conference, leaders from Nigeria and Togo met to discuss a West Africa Regional network, supported by GCF. The goal of this network is to encourage children’s workers to work effectively together, combining forces in reaching the children of the world. Ideas were discussed such as developing local networks and producing a Nigerian KidsHubsTV show. It was emphasized that this network would seek to work together with those already working with children, not in completion with them.
